What to Expect During Your Branding Session in Beaufort, NC : Wheatly + Combs Premier Properties

When most people think about branding photography, they immediately think “headshots.” But a strong branding session, especially for realtors, is so much more than standing in front of a camera smiling.

Recently, I photographed a branding session for the incredible team at Wheatly + Combs Premier Properties in Beaufort, North Carolina, and it was the perfect example of what a strategic, intentional brand session should feel like.

If you’re a realtor, entrepreneur, or business owner wondering what to expect during a branding session, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the process.

Before the Session: Strategy First

The biggest difference between branding photography and a standard portrait session is strategy.

Before your session even begins, we talk through:

  • Your business goals
  • What type of clients you want to attract
  • Where the images will be used
  • What content you feel like you’re currently missing
  • Your brand personality and style
  • Your marketing needs for the next several months

For the Wheatly + Combs session, we focused heavily on creating content that would work across:

  • Social media
  • Listing marketing
  • Realtor bios
  • Website updates
  • Email marketing
  • Team branding
  • Lifestyle content
  • Local Beaufort real estate marketing

The goal is always to create images that feel cohesive, elevated, and usable, not random photos you’ll never touch again.

Two people lounging on a wooden floor against a white wall, one reading a laptop and the other using a phone

During Your Branding Session: Movement Over Posing

One of the biggest concerns I hear from clients is:
“We’re awkward in photos.”

Truthfully? Most people are not professional models, and they don’t need to be.

During branding sessions, I focus far more on movement, interaction, and natural connection than stiff posing. Especially for real estate professionals, clients want to see someone approachable and trustworthy.

During this Beaufort branding session, we captured:

  • Walking shots
  • Conversation moments
  • Laptop and phone interaction
  • Team collaboration
  • Lifestyle images around town
  • Casual candid moments
  • Professional portraits
  • Detail shots that help tell the brand story

Some of the best images often happen in-between poses.

What to Wear for a Realtor Branding Session

Wardrobe plays a huge role in how polished and cohesive your branding images feel.

For real estate branding sessions, I usually recommend:

  • Neutral tones
  • Elevated basics
  • Layers and texture
  • Classic pieces over trendy items
  • Coordinated colors for teams
  • Multiple outfit options for variety

For Wheatly + Combs, we wanted the wardrobe to feel professional while still fitting the relaxed coastal luxury vibe of Beaufort, NC.

The result felt polished without looking overly corporate, which is exactly the balance many modern realtors are aiming for.

Why Branding Photos Matter for Realtors

In today’s market, people often decide whether they trust you before they ever meet you.

Your branding images are usually one of the first impressions potential clients have of your business. Strong branding photography helps create:

  • Trust
  • Professionalism
  • Consistency
  • Brand recognition
  • Connection
  • Higher quality marketing materials

For realtors in competitive coastal markets like Beaufort, Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, and the Crystal Coast, having professional branding content can make a huge difference in how your business is perceived online.
