There are some events I photograph as a professional, and there are others that feel a little more personal.
The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards is one of those.
As a longtime Greensboro Chamber member and a small business owner myself, I’ve spent years building relationships within Greensboro’s business community. I’ve photographed business owners, executives, teams, events and organizations throughout the Triad, and many of the people I see at Chamber events are people I’ve gotten to know well beyond a quick introduction and a business card.
That’s part of what makes photographing the Small Business Awards so meaningful.
The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards recognizes the entrepreneurs, business owners and organizations helping shape Greensboro’s economy and community.
Small businesses are often where big ideas begin. They create jobs, support local organizations, invest in their communities and build the relationships that make Greensboro a great place to live and do business. Behind every business being recognized is a story.
Years of work. Risks taken. Employees who believed in the vision. Clients who kept coming back. Problems solved. Long days that no one else saw. An awards event gives us a chance to stop and recognize that work.
Professional event photography gives organizations images they can use for press releases, social media, websites, annual reports, sponsorship materials, newsletters, marketing campaigns and future event promotion.
One event can create an entire library of authentic visual content.
I've been a longtime member of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, and the relationships I've built through the Chamber have become an important part of my own business journey.
As the owner and photographer behind Autumn Hollifield Creative, I know firsthand what it means to build a small business over time.
Those relationships matter.
They are also one of the reasons I love working within Greensboro's corporate and small business community. When I'm photographing an event, I'm often photographing people and organizations I've worked with before—or people I've gotten to know through years of being involved in the Triad business community.
That familiarity allows me to anticipate moments and understand what matters to the organizations I photograph.
Corporate event photography is about much more than having someone in the room with a camera.
Important events happen once.
Award presentations can't be recreated. A genuine reaction can't be staged afterward. The CEO shaking hands with a community leader, the room erupting in applause or a team celebrating an accomplishment together happens in a fraction of a second.
Experience matters.
I've photographed corporate events, conferences, ribbon cuttings, business announcements, networking events, galas, executive gatherings and other major events throughout Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem and the surrounding North Carolina Triad.
My approach is to document both the moments everyone expects and the smaller interactions happening around them—the details that help tell the complete story.
