She Means Business: A Day of Leadership, Inspiration, and Boundaries That Change Lives
Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking at the She Means Business Leadership Conference, hosted by the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce at the beautiful historic Penn House in Reidsville, NC. This incredible event, founded and brought to life by Chamber President Diane Sawyer, was designed to uplift, empower, and connect women in leadership, business, and community.
And let me tell you, it delivered.
💡 A Speaker Lineup Full of Power & Purpose
The day featured a powerhouse lineup of women doing amazing work in their fields. Just a few were Summer Moore, Reidsville's City Manager, Eden Combs, a local realtor who is making waves, Jessie Meador, a non-profit Executive Director who spoke on faith driven leadership, Andrea Moore spoke on self care, Sharon Galloway, and my own talk was on something deeply personal: setting boundaries to create the life you actually want.
We covered everything from mindset and faith-led leadership, to the real-life tools needed to lead without losing yourself.
The keynote was delivered by District Attorney Katy Gregg, whose powerful message left the room speechless, in the best way.
🥗 A Day of Connection, Self-Care, and Community
We shared stories, asked hard questions, took notes, and had the kind of hallway conversations that turn into breakthroughs. A delicious lunch was provided by Brookdale, and the day ended on the softest note, a Pamper Hour with hand treatments, chair massages, yummy drinks, and a space to simply breathe.
🎤 My Talk: Boundaries that Build the Life You Want
When I was asked to speak, I was excited, but I won’t lie, I was nervous too. I’m an introvert at heart, though I know how to be “on” when it matters. And this mattered.
I spoke about boundaries. Not just as a productivity hack or a buzzword, but as the foundation of building a business and life that actually feels good.
Because what’s the point of building a dream if it leaves you exhausted, disconnected, and out of alignment?
The most powerful moment for me came after my talk, when a woman came up to me and said:
“A 30-minute conversation with the right entrepreneur was worth more than all the self-help and business books I’ve read in the last five years.”
WOW. Was she talking to me?
During lunch, we also had the opportunity to hear from an inspiring panel of women who are thriving in traditionally male-dominated industries led by moderator Leigh Cockram. Amanda Ward, owner of Leaf and Teller, along with several other panelists including Barbara DeJournette, Summer Moore, Jodi Lester, Laura Bailey, Morgan Moore and Leslie Olsen, shared their personal journeys and the challenges they’ve overcome. Their message was clear: educating themselves, staying curious, and refusing to play small were key to carving out their place and owning their success. Their honesty and resilience sparked meaningful conversations and left the room empowered to break through their own barriers, no matter the field.
🙌 A Conference That Did More Than Inspire
This wasn’t just another networking event. It was real. It was warm, raw, and filled with women who aren’t just dreaming, they’re doing. And doing it with purpose, community, and heart.
A huge thank you to Diane Sawyer and the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce for creating such a meaningful space. I’m grateful to have been part of it, and I can’t wait to see how it grows.
If you ever get the chance to attend She Means Business, go. You’ll walk away a little taller, a little lighter, and a whole lot clearer on who you are and how you lead.
